WHAT IS AMAZON ASSOCIATES AFFILIATE PROGRAM ?
The Amazon Affiliate program, or Amazon Associates, is an affiliate marketing program. Website owners and bloggers can become Amazon Associates for free. They advertise products from Amazon.com on their site by creating links. When customers click on links and buy products from Amazon, they earn referral fees.
But how to start? Below is a step-by-step guide on how to become an Amazon affiliate. I hope you find this guide a useful place to start, whether you're looking to become an entrepreneur, start your own business, or just looking for a small business hustle.
HOW TO BECOME AN AMAZON AFFILIATE ?

• Go to the Amazon Associates home page and click “Sign Up”.
• Enter your account information.
• Enter your website address.

• Explain how you drive traffic to your site.
• Select a payment method.
• Create Amazon affiliate links.
1. Create a website or blog.
To become an Amazon Associate, you must have an active website, blog, app, or YouTube channel. It's also helpful if you've pre-populated the site with content so it appears active and authentic to both users and Amazon.
Remember that you must be able to describe the purpose of your website as part of the application process. So have a clear idea of why you are creating your site, what audience you will target and how you will drive traffic.
2. Go to the Amazon Associates home page and click "Sign Up".
In order to become an Amazon affiliate, you will need to create an Amazon Associates account. To do this, go to the Amazon Associates home page and click Sign Up. From there, you'll be prompted to sign in to your existing Amazon account or create one.
3. Enter your account information.
Enter your account information (including the payee's name, address and phone number).
4. Enter your website address.
Enter your websites, apps, YouTube channels, etc.
Enter your preferred store ID.
Enter your preferred store ID (usually the same as your primary site name), explain what your sites are trying to achieve, and select the Amazon topics your links are likely to target.
6. Explain how you drive traffic to your site.
Explain how you drive traffic to your website, how you use your website or app to generate income, how you typically build links, and how many visitors your website brings in each month.
7. Choose a payment method.
Choose whether you want to enter your payment (credit card) and VAT number now or later. Then go to your dashboard.
8. Create Amazon affiliate links.
Once you create an account, you will be redirected to your personal affiliate homepage. Here you will find your performance dashboard (including earnings overview, monthly summary and total clicks).
This dashboard is also where you will find relevant products to link to from your content.
HOW DOES ITS WORKS ?
In the Amazon Affiliate Program, affiliates earn commission by creating unique product links, promoting the links on their website, and driving referral traffic back to Amazon. It works like this:
• Website owners create an Amazon Affiliate account on the platform.
• Amazon gives each website owner a unique affiliate ID.
• Once the request is approved, associates can start creating affiliate links on their Amazon portal.
• Contributors then place links in blog posts or other parts of their website.
• Once someone clicks on the link and makes a purchase, the affiliate earns a commission.
HOW TO CREATE AMAZON AFFILIATE LINKS ?
Create Amazon affiliate links.
Once you create an account, you will be redirected to your personal affiliate homepage. Here you will find your performance dashboard (including earnings overview, monthly summary and total clicks).
This dashboard is also where you will find relevant products to link to from your content. Here is the procedure:
How to create an Amazon affiliate link
• Sign in to your Amazon Associate account.
• Click on Product Linking in the top banner and select Product Links.
• Add the ASIN of the product OR search Amazon for the product in the bar they provide.
• Click the Go button.
• Click the Get link button on the right side of the result.
• Alternatively, you can use Amazon Associates SiteStripe to generate Amazon Affiliate links directly from the product page.
• Use the generated link on your site or other promotional materials according to Amazon's standards.
1. Sign in to your Amazon Associate account.
This ensures that the link text is generated in a way that associates the product you are promoting with your account.
2. Click on Product Linking in the top banner and select Product Links.
This will take you to a page that prompts you to create a link.
3. Add the product ASIN OR search for the product on Amazon.
The Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN) is a 10-digit alphanumeric code assigned to a product by Amazon for identification within their product catalog. You can find the product's ASIN in the Product Information section of the product's Amazon. That means you'll have to grab it in another window.
Alternatively, if you can't find the ASIN, Amazon will let you search the catalog for the product you're promoting.
4. Click the Go button.
This will create the result at the bottom. Make sure this is the intended product you want to promote.
5. Click the Get Link button on the right.
This will copy your new Amazon Affiliate link to your clipboard and you can now use this link in your promotions.
6. Alternatively, you can use Amazon Associates SiteStripe to generate Amazon Affiliate links.
An easier way to generate your Amazon
Affiliate links are used using the SiteStripe bar that appears on product pages when you are logged into the Amazon affiliate panel.
Just click the Text button in the Get Link selector. Then copy the generated link which is given in the popup window.
7. Use the generated link on your site or other promotional materials according to Amazon standards.
Please note that Amazon's guidelines prohibit the use of the link in offline promotions, emails, and eBooks or PDFs. As with most marketing and sales, quality content is key to success. Make sure you attract your audience with quality content and share relevant affiliate links with them on your website or YouTube channel.
Every link you generate will have a cookie that will follow your website visitors after they click on the link. This is very beneficial for you because it increases the likelihood that you will receive a commission on the sale. The only problem is that it only lasts for a limited time.
REGISTRATION PROCESS OF AMAZON ASSOCIATES ?
The best part is that signing up for Amazon Associates is super easy.
Unlike other affiliate programs that require you to have an engaged audience before approval, Amazon accepts anyone who signs up.
So how do you sign up to become an Amazon Associate?
Here's a quick step-by-step guide:
• Visit this page and click the “Sign Up” button at the bottom.
• Sign in to your Amazon account (or create one if you don't already have one).
• Fill in the blanks with your information. (Note: If you don't already have a website, consider creating one before signing up as an Amazon affiliate. You can get started for just $2.95 a month.)
• After you fill in all your details, you will be instantly accepted as an Amazon affiliate. (Yes! It's instant.)
• Go to your dashboard, generate your links and start promoting!
Unfortunately, being an Amazon affiliate isn't all rainbows and unicorns.
Sure, it's very easy to join and allows you to earn a nice side income.
However, there have been a lot of complaints from Amazon affiliates in recent years.
That's what we're here for.
In the next few sections, we'll discuss what's great about the program, what's not, and whether or not you should go for it.
PROS & CONS OF AMAZON ASSOCIATES ?
PROS
• Tons of products to review.
• Competitive commissions.
• Very easy to use.
• Support is always very pleasant.
CONS
• May not be best for some very specific niches.
• TOS is clear as mud.
• Support often provides conflicting information about Amazon's policies.
THERE ARE LOTS OF PRODUCTS TO PROMOTE.
Although I haven't actually done it, I refuse to believe that any other affiliate program can match the sheer wealth of products covered by Amazon Associates.
Whether you're into Colonel Sanders fanfiction, kangaroos, or radioactive uranium ore, if you like physical (rather than digital) products, you're almost guaranteed to find something relevant to promote.
This is why so many beginner affiliate marketers choose Amazon Associates - it's an easy way to monetize every single blog post you write.
PRICING ISSUES ?
Amazon sells a lot of products. And the prices of these products are constantly changing.
Obviously, no affiliate marketer can afford to spend time updating prices manually, so Amazon requires affiliate partners to use its API to retrieve pricing information.
Unfortunately, it needs to be updated every 24 hours and often causes web page caching issues. There's a good chance this will cause you to unknowingly violate Amazon's terms of service at some point.
Fortunately, there are plugins to make your life easier; we recommend Affiliateable.
INTERNATIONAL PAYMENT SYSTEM
Amazon is a reliable company and we haven't seen any real horror stories about affiliates not getting their commissions.
However, the payment options are quite limited compared to many affiliate programs.
Until recently, international earnings—for example, when an EU-based affiliate earns money through Amazon USA affiliate programs—could only be paid by check or Amazon gift card.
The situation has improved somewhat, and affiliates participating in Amazon's US, UK, German, French, Italian, Spanish or Canadian programs can now be paid by bank transfer - but only if they are located in one of the 52 supported countries and territories across USA, UK and Eurozone.
So if you're in Australia or Malaysia or South Africa or anywhere else not on this list, you've got gift cards or checks
WHEN TO USE AMAZON ASSOCIATES ?
That pretty much wraps up our Amazon affiliate program review!
There's one more thing to cover:
When is it the "right choice" to sign up for Amazon's affiliate program?
In my opinion, you can't go wrong with Amazon if you're new to affiliate marketing and want to promote physical products.
A huge inventory and a large selection of product categories will make your life easier.
Sign up for Amazon Associates, build links, and get started.
But once you get a little more experience and confidence in your niche, you'll naturally gravitate towards your favorite brands.
And these brands almost always beat the commissions paid by Amazon.
However, there is no need to close your Amazon Associates account at this time.
Feel free to use it along with other affiliate programs as an additional source of income. (See our Walmart Affiliate vs Amazon Affiliate Program comparison).
Just don't rely on it as your only source of income.

COMMISSION RATE OF AMAZON AFFILIATE ?
I can assure you that like all other affiliate programs, Amazon Associates is not a get-rich-quick program.
Anyone who tells you otherwise is probably trying to trick you into buying their exclusive (and useless) "affiliate marketing secret."
Now, Amazon isn't exactly known for offering the most generous commissions.
It has reduced commission rates before, most recently in April 2020.
But there is still plenty of affiliate income to be earned if you choose the right niche.
Check out Amazon's current commissions.
That's right - at the time of writing, Amazon pays its affiliates a whopping 20% for digital video game sales through its Amazon Games division.
Not only that, but selling luxury beauty items and Amazon Explore digital products will net you a tidy 10% commission.
Of course, the other categories apply a little (or a lot) less.
Because Jeff Bezos didn't become a billionaire by being generous.
For example, the do-it-yourself category pays a pretty paltry 3%.
Likewise, Amazon Coin sales (whatever they are) while PC components pay 2.5%.
No matter what sales volume you achieve, you won't earn much from 1% commissions in the health and personal care category.
And don't even think about advertising booze, wireless service plans, or digital Kindle products, because you won't make big, fat money for your efforts.
In addition to commissions based on product categories, there is an Amazon rewards program.
With "Rewards", you receive payments in a fixed amount for managing specific actions.
For example, at the time of writing, Amazon's bounty program is:
• $3 when "eligible customers" sign up for the Amazon Baby Registry and add at least one product to it
• $5 on eligible purchases of Amazon Prime gift membership
• $15 for successfully registering an Amazon Business account
It is unlikely that you will be able to build an online business based solely on reward payouts.
However, they can be a nice way to make more money on top of your existing affiliate income.
There are currently almost 40 different products, services and promotions eligible for reward payouts - too many to list here.
So make it a habit to check the commission website to make sure you don't miss any opportunity.

WHO IS AMAZON ASSOCIATES BEST FOR ?
Amazon Associates is pretty handy to have around, but let's take a look and see who it favors best (and who it doesn't work well for).
PHYSICAL DRAWINGS OF PRODUCTS
Regardless of the size of your website, Amazon can be a very useful tool for physical products. It can be anything from razors to picture frames to outdoor decorations.
Amazon has a huge variety of products to promote, and there's a good chance you'll find something for your website.
The caveat is that you should still be looking for other affiliate programs in your niche. Amazon pays a competitive commission in many areas, but you can find something even better for your site elsewhere.
PRODUCT INFORMATION PRODUCTS
Amazon is not a great choice for information products. Amazon has movies, documentaries, and books, but it's pretty thin here.
Your best bet is to look at something like Clickbank or run an ad network like Adsense, Ezoic or Mediavine.
SOCIAL MEDIA
Amazon is not a great choice for niches with a heavy emphasis on social media. You are allowed to link to Amazon on your social media profiles, but there are a few restrictions. You must:
• Own the social media profile you use
• Include the exact URL of the social media channel in the Associates Dashboard
• Mention on social media that you are an Amazon affiliate and will earn income from sales made through affiliate links
• Be a verified Twitter account if you promote your links this way (must have a blue tick)
You cannot:
• Ask your audience to make a purchase through your link, even if it's just to support your business
• Mask links without telling your audience they're going to Amazon (discussed below)
CONNECTION OF PRODUCTS
One useful feature on the dashboard is the "Product Links" tab. Here you can create regular links (don't do this), create banners, native shopping ads, and mobile popovers.
I wouldn't worry too much about banners on Amazon. There are many options, but all of them are often very specific. These banners often promote certain deals going on within Amazon.
There is always a risk that the promotion will change, the banner will change and it will not apply to your reader.
One thing I like about the Product Links tab is the native shopping ad.
TONS OF PRODUCTS TO PROMOTE ?
Amazon may have the widest range of products to promote of any affiliate program in the world. It is suitable for many niches with physical products.
Whatever your website is about, there is probably an Amazon product you can sell related to your website.
At worst, this makes the Amazon affiliate program a great starting point for monetizing every blog post you write
COMPETITION COMMISSION
Amazon commissions are competitive for most niches. Cookies are short-lived (1 day), but if a customer adds an item to their cart, the duration of the cookie skyrockets to 90 days.
It also has the benefit of earning a commission on anything someone buys within 24 hours of using your cookie. Amazon is a master at conversion and upsells.
Your customers can go to Amazon from your link, buy a sewing needle, and walk away with a lawnmower.
VERY EASY TO USE
SiteStripe makes it easy to add your affiliate links. If you can get access to the API (I cover this later, so keep reading), you won't need to do anything at all on Amazon's side. Everything can be done inside WordPress.
Amazon makes it very easy to create a text link that you know is actually following.
THE SUPPORT IS SUPER NICE
The support group is always there to help. They make you feel welcome and are happy to answer your questions.
In talking to other affiliates, many have said that Amazon is among the best at actually answering questions when things go wrong and getting you back on track to resolve any issues and get your affiliate account back on track.
HOW TO MAKE MONEY WITH AMAZON AFFILIATE PROGRAM ?
Generally speaking, signing up for the Amazon Affiliate program and becoming an associate isn't really the hard part. The challenge is getting enough sales to turn your passion project into a source of income.
Here are some tips on how to make money from Amazon Affiliate Program.
1. Choose a location for your website.
Becoming an Amazon affiliate is not a good idea if your site is about DIY, beauty products, and writing novels at the same time. To make sure you get the most out of your Amazon affiliate partnership, choose one eCommerce niche for your website.
Whether it's paleo cooking or DIY educational activities for teachers, the niche has to be of particular interest to you – something you can write about constantly without getting tired. This gives you plenty of opportunity to naturally embed product links without being too salesy.
Choosing a niche will also make your site look more authoritative to visitors, because if you talk about one thing all the time, you'll look like an expert. Touching on a wide variety of topics can make it seem like you're writing content for the sake of writing content. You will also usually have less competition if you focus on a very specific topic that many others haven't touched on.
2. Write product reviews and comparison posts.
One of the best ways to make money as an Amazon Associate is to write product reviews and posts comparing two or more products. This gives you the ability to link to the products you review.
The best part? These are usually high-intent posts, meaning the person looking for a review is close to buying the product (if not ready to buy). After all, no one would look for a review of a product that they have no intention of buying.
Product comparison posts offer an even greater opportunity for sales because if a visitor decides one product isn't for them, you're giving them several alternatives to choose from. It's a win-win and a surefire way to get more referrals towards Amazon.
3. Blog consistently.
At the heart of a strong Amazon Affiliate strategy is a blog, which gives you plenty of opportunities to include product mentions and links. For that reason, I recommend blogging regularly.
Try to go for one blog post a week, but quality matters more than quantity. If you write two well-researched posts per month, you can drive more qualified traffic to Amazon than if you write eight poorly written posts.
Implement a content marketing strategy to help you create blog posts that are topically relevant. You'll want to learn the basics of SEO to make sure you're optimizing your website for online search.
4. Create a storefront on your website.
You don't have to rely solely on editorial mentions to get referrals on Amazon. You can actually create a store that works like an online store - the only difference is that each link points to Amazon instead of the checkout page on your website.
Storefronts are a great option because they require minimal maintenance and content writing. Once the visitors land on your website, it will be easy and simple for them to browse the products. Another advantage is that the links are not buried in other content.
The only thing you need to do is check your links every month to ensure your store is bringing in referrals. Sometimes product pages move or products are removed from Amazon entirely. You want to make sure that every product is still available on the seller's website.

FINAL CONCLUSION.
Thank you For Reading My Amazon Associates Complete Review.
Making money from Amazon Associates is similar to making money from any other affiliate program, but your commission payment will largely depend on the number of sales you make each month.
So if you want to earn a higher average commission, start selling cheaper products like eBooks quickly and then move to higher priced products to increase your average commission sales (usually 6%).
You can then start making better referrals to your blog audience to increase your Amazon Associates sales. Instead of making your blog a place for advertising, choose a "few products" that are worth paying every penny for.
